About Me

Hi and welcome! My name is Sarah Brekke-Velazquez (she/her). I’m a licensed clinical social worker in California (LCSW77200).

I believe in healing ourselves and each other as the first step toward healing our planet. My intention as a therapist is to guide people toward empowerment and healing in order to live their fullest and most joyful lives possible. I believe that we all have this capacity within us, and therapy can help us to move through our past trauma, oppressive social conditioning, anxieties and other stresses to be our best selves.

I received my MSW from UC Berkeley in 2014 and have been a practicing therapist ever since. Before opening my own practice, I worked with children and families through Family Paths for 5 years, and with adults in Intensive Outpatient Psychiatry at Kaiser. I’ve also worked on the mental health crisis team at Burning Man, and I’m training to become a birth and post partum doula. Prior to grad school I worked with survivors of sexual and domestic violence as a Victim Advocate. I have extensive experience working with folks who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and OCD. I have specific training in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy and EMDR. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from the body, and I love using EMDR and Hakomi to help others find that connection and heal the mind, body, and spirit.

My favorite thing about my job is getting to connect with so many beautiful humans (yes, that means you!) I believe that is why we are on this planet even in these wild times. Working with me will feel different than it might other therapists because it will be infused with a little spirituality, maybe through an astrological lens, and definitely my human-ness and some humor. If this sounds like a good fit, send me an email!
